Shopify app: Reports & Export by SyncWith

Run reports on your store with our embedded app

Updated this week

Reports & Export is our embedded Shopify app that you can install on your store.

Installation

To install it please visit our app's page on the Shopify App store.

Features

Our embedded app lets you create reports, from templates or from scratch. You can select the fields you'd like.

Creating reports

Selecting fields

  • You can create custom reports with any fields you wish

  • You can change the order of fields within the report

Filtering report results

Using our app you can apply any number of filters to your report. Each filter will let you control which rows to include or exclude in your report. Each filter is configured based on a specific field, and can use one of our available operators.

For numeric fields we support filtering based operators Equals, Not equals, Greater than, and Less than. For example you could filter orders with Total sales > $100.

For non-numeric fields we support filtering with operators In, Not in, Contains and Not contains. Contains and Not contains are for partial text matching, for example you could filter the field Product title using the Contains operator on text Brown to find any products with the word Brown in their title. The operators In and Not in are for filtering to ensure a row contains one of a set of value(s), for example you could filter the field Product ID to be In a list of product ids, eg (123,456) which would filter the results to those two products.

Sorting report results

You can choose a single field to sort by, either Ascending or Descending. In order to sort by a field you must first have added that field to your report.

Report type

Each report can be set to the type Order or Custom, please see our article on Shopify order level reporting.

When you choose the type Order it means the report will produce exactly 1 row per order. This is useful when you want to see a list of orders and view fields from lists within the order, for example a list of the line items, products, or transactions on the order.

When you choose the type Custom it means the report will have 1 row for every dimension combination. For example if your reports fields include the dimension Order and Product title then you'll get one row per order per product.

Date range filtering

You can choose a date range for your report. The date range is in the timezone of your store. There are a number of preset ranges available including Today, Yesterday, Last 14 days, This month, Last month. You can use the date range Last X days, weeks, months or years to setup a dynamic date range, enabling you to report on any period up until today or yesterday, you can use the Include today checkbox to specify whether or not the date range would include the current period (eg day or month etc). For example you can use this to make a report report on the last 6 months including this month.

When SyncWith runs your report with the date range you've specified, we attempt to apply the date range to the objects that you'd expect. For example if your report includes only customer fields, then we'll apply the date range to the customer created at date. If you report includes orders only, we'll apply the date range to the order created at date. If your report appears to be about sales, we'll apply the date range to the sale happened at date. There isn't a way currently to specify how the date range should be applied. In some cases it might not behave as you're hoping, for example if your report includes both customers and orders, then the date range will be applied to orders not customers.

Scheduling and automation

Our Shopify app Reports & Export doesn't yet have any scheduling or automation features to run or refresh reports automatically.

Exporting reports

Each report can be exported, you can choose to export to XLSX format for a Microsoft Excel spreadsheet, or to CSV for a comma-separated format you can import into any spreadsheet app such as Google Sheets.

Report sharing

Once you've saved a report you can then choose to share it. Sharing it will create a publicly accessible link that anyone can access without needing to login to your store. This link will show the output of the report, and let the viewer refresh the data to run the report again and see the latest results.

SyncWith for Google Sheets

We have another product, SyncWith for Google Sheets which can also report on Shopify stores. It is a Google Sheets addon which you can install in a Google Sheet, connect to your Shopify store, and then report on your store directly within Google Sheets.

If you're hitting a limitation with our embedded Shopify app Reports & Export then in some cases using our Google Sheets addon can help, it has some advantages:

  1. In our Google Sheets addon reports can be scheduled to run automatically, for example hourly or daily, unlike in our Shopify app where we don't have any scheduling.

  2. When reporting within our Google Sheets addon you can run a single report against multiple Shopify stores, or run multiple reports against a number of individual stores, compared to our Shopify app Reports & Export which only runs reports against the single store you're running it on.

  3. If you're running report(s) in Google Sheets against Shopify store(s) with our Google Sheets addon then you can customize the results more, for example by combining data from multiple reports together, and by adding calculated custom fields using formulas in sheets.

Installation

To install SyncWith for Google Sheets on your Shopify store, first install our other Shopify app also available on the Shopify app store at this url: https://apps.shopify.com/syncwith
