Multiple accounts detected

When using our Google Sheets addon, you can hit issues if you're logged into multiple Google accounts within yoru growser

Updated yesterday

If you encounter the error Multiple Accounts Detected when using SyncWith for Google Sheets it means that SyncWith is unable to access your Google spreadsheet. To solve this you need to ensure you have just one google account logged into your browser. Also, if you see a Google Sheets popup or toast directly from Google that mentions PERMISSION_DENIED this is usually caused by this same problem.

Please try the following troubleshooting steps to resolve the problem or narrow down the issue. If you're still stuck please contact us via the Chat bubble on this support site (bottom right) or email us at hello@syncwith.com.

  1. Using a new incognito window

  2. Sign out of all but one Google account

  3. Use Chrome Profiles to ensure that each browser window has just one Google account

Multiple Google Accounts

When using Google products such as Google Sheets, its possible to have multiple Google accounts signed in. You can see the list of the Google accounts in your browser by clicking on your profile image top right of the web app.

Please Sign out of all Google account(s) except one to resolve this issue.

Chrome Profiles

If you want to continue to use multiple Google accounts without this issue, please setup one Chrome profile per Google account, then each gets its own separate browser window.

Why does error happen?

Unfortunately, there is a bug in how Google handles multiple accounts, and it causes this problem for many Google Sheets addons such as SyncWith.

See:

Examples

Permission denied within Google Sheets itself

Its also possible to encounter this error when trying to open our addon in Google Sheets, or when using our status row buttons such as Refresh or Edit for a specific report. In these cases you might see an error mentioning PERMISSION_DENIED in either a toast near the bottom of the google sheet, or in a popup dialog, and the error might be in your language (vs english) since its from Google. Examples:

Note: it is possible to get a permission denied error in other contexts or situations with SyncWith, this problem and solution here only applies to this very specific instance where you see the PERMISSION_DENIED error in an error from Google Sheets itself. SyncWith for Google Sheets (or our other products) never show this error ourselves in this situation.

Here is what this error looks like in SyncWith for Google Sheets. Sometimes you may see a different error message that mentions Authorization is required or Permission needed , this is likely the same issue.
